What effects did the completion of the railroad have? Shipping was made easier. Travel was made easier.
What were some of the serious costs of the Transcontinental Railroad? Workers were killed. The way of life for native americans ended forever.
What were some of the geographic obstacles in the west? Great Plains, Rocky Mountains, Sierra Nevada Mountains
Why did people think that Native Americans might object to the railroad? It would bring settlers to their homelands.
Why did construction slow down on both ends of the transcontinental railroad? Workers were scarce because of the Civil War; and Gold Rush
Who did the Central Pacific hire for workers? Chinese immigrants
