What was the area that settlers traveled to during the early 1800s? Oregon Country
What path/route was used to make the journey to the Oregon Country? The Oregon Trail
What were obstacles that settlers faced on the journey to the Oregon Country? Diseases, climate, and attacks from either wild animals or Native Americans
Why was the Oregon Country so luring? The soil is fertile and the temperatures are mild all year round. Farther inland, there were dense forests filled with wild animals.
Who were Fur Trappers? What did they do? Before the Oregon Country became so demanding, American and European fur traders traveled there. Some actually settled there. These men were known as mountain men. They were admired as rugged individualists. Their jobs were very dangerous though.
