| Militia | A group of volunteers who fought in an emergency during the colonial period in the American Revolution. |
| Revolution | The overthrow of the government; the colonist's fight for freedom. |
| Delegate | A person chosen to represent a group. |
| Continental Congress | A group of colonists who first met in Philadelphia in 1774 to discuss how the colonists should deal with Great Britain. |
