What is the constitution? A document stating the rules under which a government will operate
What is an executive? A person who runs the government and sees that laws are carried out
What is economic depression? A time or period when business slows, prices and wages drop, and unemployment rises
Who was Daniel Shays? A revolutionary war captain who led an uprising of 1,000 Massachusetts farmers (Shays rebellion)in response to taxes and farm sales
Who was James Madison? A young delegate from Virginia, took careful notes that were used for historical information after his death
What was the judicial branch? a system of courts to interpret the law
Who was Roger Sherman? A connecticut delgate who believed people should have little to nothing to say about who would be a member of the two house legislature
Who was James Wilson? A delegate from Pennsylvania who believed people should elect the legislature
What is a compromise? an agreement in which each side gives up part of what they want
who was Governeur Morris? author/writer of the preamble of the constitution
What does ratify mean? to approve
Who was Alexander Hamilton? A federalist (supporter of the constitution) published the Federalist paper
Who was John Jay? A federalist that along with Alexander Hamilton published the Federalist paper
Who was George Mason? anti-federalist who wanted a bill of rights to protect personal freedoms
