Life in the Colonies

QuestionAnswer
What is a plantation? A large farm with many workers who lived on the land they worked.
What is a cash crop? A crop that is grown to be sold for profit.
What is an indentured servant? a person who agreed to work for an amount of time in exchange for the cost of housing, food and the voyage to North America.
What does it mean to be self-sufficient? Having the ability to produce most everything that one needs.
What is a grant? To give something formally to someone.
