Worth of the Individual Respect for Dignity of a Person
Equality of all persons No one is discriminated against for gender, race, nationality, etc.
Individual Freedom All people will have the opportunity to reach their potential regardless of their gender, race, or nationality
Majority rule, minority rights a majority of the people will be right more often than they will be wrong and will be right more often than any one person or small group; the majority should also be willing to listen to a minority's argument, hear objections and criticisms, a
necessity of compromise puts the individual first while maintaining equality; provides a third option for public questions
Social Contract Theory state arose out of a voluntary act of free people; exists only to serve will of the people, ppl are soul source of political power, they are free to give or wihhold that power as they choose

Oligarchy a gvmt in which th e power to rule is held by a small, usually self-appointed elite
Democracy supreme political authority rests with the people; people hold the sovereign power; gvmt is conducted only by and with consent of the people (direct democracy, representative democracy, constitutional monarchy)
