what was the pasture used for? -a place for the animals to graze -put animals there in the summer
what was the tillage for? -family crops -cash crops -most families only grew enough food for themselves
what is the meadow for? -used to make hay -hay was to feed the animals in the winter -without the meadow land the animals would starve
What was the orchard for? -fruit trees -apples were used to feed animals and to make cider -cider was important because the water was filthy
what is a Blacksmith? Makes items out of iron and repaired items or parts of items made from iron or steel
what is a brickmaker? Made bricks for constructing foundations and buildings
what is a cabinetmaker? Made all types of furniture including tables, chairs, and bookcases. most cabinetmakers also provided coffin making services
what is a carpenter/Jointer? Built, repaired, renovated, and remodeled buildings
what is a cooper? made all sorts of wooden containers including well buckets, barrels for many things, and storage for shipping tobacco
what is a gunsmith? made and repaired firearms and other metal tools and utensils
what is a milliner? made new undergarments, accesories, and childrens clothing and reworked exsisting undergarments. also sold other fasion related goods. also offered laundry services.
what is a printer? printed newspapers, ads, political notices, business papers, legal forms, theatre bills, and almanacs
what is a harnessmaker/saddler? made different types of saddles and harness', saddlebags, trunks , leather water buckets, fire hoses, and other leather items.
what is a shoemaker? Made different types of shoes for dress, work, and dancing.
what is a silversmith? made spoons, ladles, forks, bowls, cups, teapots, and jewelry.
what is a wigmaker? made, styled, cleaned and repaired wigs and queues; cut cleaned and dresses customers own hair; shaves faces and heads
what is an attorney? -a lawyer. they were trained by reading legal records, books that the court cases that formed the english common law. untrained lawyers would apprentice with an experiences lawyer before starting out on their own. wanted to bring order back into society.
what is a judge? wanted to bring order back into society. judges were important people in their religions, generally religious or political leaders.
what is the government officials? the council is made up of reliable citizens in the colony. the governor makes important decisions about military expeditions. no law can be passed in the colony with out being signed by him. The governors council is expected to support his decisions

what is a tax collector? they work for the king. they collect taxes from people.
what is a smuggler they were merchants who had to bribe costumers agents.
what is a minister? people who are authorized to conduct religious worship.
what was the age of enlightenment? The Age of Enlightenment was a period of scientific awakening. it significantly changed religion, intellectual inquiry, economy, and politics.
why was it so great to be British in 1750? -wealthiest empire -GREAT military protection -king george III -american "independence" -people made laws (british justice) -low taxes for colonies -high standard for living
