Privy Council A group of royal advisers to the English Monarch which set colonial policies.
English Bill of Rights A shift of political power from the British Monarchy to Parliament.
Dominion of New England A union of northern colonies under one government established by King James II.
Mercantilism A system of creating and maintaining wealth through carefully controlled trade.
Navigation Acts An act of 1660 that forbade colonists from trading specific items like sugar and cotton with any country other than England, and required the use of English ships to transport goods.
Triangular Trade Trade of random items between Europe, Africa, West Indies, Brazil, and Central America.
Middle Passage The passage in the middle of the triangular trade.
Great Awakening A religious movement that became widespread in the American Colonies in the 1730s and 1740s.
Enlightenment The Age of Reason movement that began in Europe in the 1700s as people began examining the natural world, society and government.
Treaty Of Paris 1763 Ended french and Indian war.
Proclamation of 1763 Banning British settlement in the west of the appailachion mountians
