What part of the government closely reflects the attitudes of the people? House of Representatives.
How long is a House of Representative elected? 2 years and no term limit.
How long does a senator serve? 6 years and no term limit. Only 1/3 of senators are up for re-election at a time.
President is elected for (how many years) 4 years and the 22nd amendment limits the terms to two.
What are the four main purposes of political parties? Defining the proper role of government-simplifying politics-winning elections-organizing the government.
What is a party platform? The official statement of what the government should or should not do.
What does electorate mean? All those eligible to vote in elections.
What is legislative coalition? A tempoary alliance of disparate groups working on mutually beneficial legislative action.
What are the two major political parties? Republican and Democrats.
What is the Electoral College? Each state's electors gather to formally cast their ballots for president and vice president. Electors typically cast their votes for their party's candidates.
