What did Ida Tarbell expose? corruption in the Standard Oil Trust company
What did Lincoln Steffens expose? Political corruption found in several American cities
What did Jacob Riis expose? life in the slums
What was the progressives goal? to improve life experienced by members of the lower class
What did the 17th Amendment do? direct election of senators
What is the Initiative process? citizens could propose a new law
What is the Referendum Process? citizens could vote on a law
What is the recall process? voters could remove an elected official from office
What is Direct Primary? party members can vote for prospective canidates
What is the National Consumers League? organization made up of women that wanted to protect both women and children in the work force

Ballinger Pinchot Affair progressives labeled taft as being anti environment
1912 election taft = republican, roosevelt = progressive, wilson = democrat, wilson wins
Clayton Antitrust Act continuation of sherman antitrust act, outlawed certain specific business practices, under wilson
Federal Trade Commission uniformly enforced the antitrust laws
Federal Reserve System designed to protect the american economy against further economic panics
