What is the Constitution? It is a document that sets out the laws and principals of a government.
What are 7 weaknesses of the articles of confederation? 1. Each state had one vote in congress.2. 9/13 Of the states have to approve the laws.3.Congress could not regulate trade between the states and foreign countries. 4.Could not pass laws.5.No president.6.No courts system. 7.Each state had its own money
Why didn't the articles of confederation work? The states didn't work together.
What did the New Jersey Plan and the Virgina Plan have in common? They both called for the three branches.
What was the Great Compromise? The house of representatives would be elected by popular votes.
What issue did the 3/5s compromise address? 3000 out of 5000 slaves are counted as the population
What was the constitution known as a bundle of constitutions? Their was so many compromises.
What are the similarities between the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution? Articles of Confederation and the constitution both wanted the laws to be fair
Define Popular Sovereignty. A government which people rule.
Define Federalism. A system of government and were power is shared among the central government and states.
Give 3 examples of Checks and balances. 1.Judicial 2.Legislative 3.Executive
Why are having Checks and Balances and Popular Sovereignty important? So no one gets to much power.
What do all 5 principles have in common? They don't want anyone to be like a king.
What does the preamble list? It lists major goals for the United States government.
Why would Presidential Canadidates campaign in large states? The large states would win if the states had to vote.
What does it mean when the presidential campaign in large states? That means he plays many rolls.
Explain the 7 hats the president wears. 1.Chief state symbol of nation.2.Chief Executive enforces laws.3.Chief Diplomat helps advisers.4.Commander Chief Army,Navy,Air Force,and Marines.5.Chief legislature Decides the legislation.6.Chief Party leader of republic taxes.7.Economic Chief monitor.
Define Judicial Review. The princaable that the supreme court has the final say in terpreting the constitution.
How does a bill become a law? 1.Introduction of a bill. 2.Commitee in session. 3.Consideration of the bill by entire house. 4.Consideration of billing by other house. 5.Confrence commitee.
Who are Anti-federalist and what were their argument? People who opposed the constitution. The people have to much power.
Who were the federalist and what were their argument? Sopporters of the constitution. National government only has enough power.
What is the purpose of the Bill of Rights? So the government couldnt take away these the Bill Rights.
What is the first amendment? Religous and political freedom.
What is the seconed amendment? Right to arms.
What is the third amendment? Quartering troops.
Why do the police need a search warrent? People have privacy.
What does Due the process mean and the fith amendment? Due Process-Fair treatment under the law. The fith amendment-Dont acuse someone without evidence.
What does it mean to plead the fith? It means that you arent aloud to say anything whenn you are arested.
What Amendment do some people beleive that the death penalty violates? The fourth amendment.
