Shays's Rebellion Massachusetts, 1787, rebellion led by Shays protesting taxes and foreclosures. Showed we need a stronger govt and the Articles were too weak.

Federalist Papers 85 papers written by Madison, Jay, Hamilton; published in NY newspaper, outlines ideas of new government. Federalist #51 and #10 are important.
Alexander Hamilton Federalist, creates financial plan, Secretary of Treasury under George Washington.
James Madison "father of Constitution," later VP under Jefferson and President as well. Wrote Federalist papers.
John Marshall long serving Supreme Court chief justice, ruled in Marbury vs. Madison.
Daniel Shays Farmer from Mass, led Shays's Rebellion to protest taxes/foreclosures.
