What were the results of the Spanish American War? Spain lost control of Cuba, Puerto Rico, & the Philippines to the U.S., Cuba gained its independence, Platt Amendment (to the Cuban Constitution), U.S. businesses profited from new markets and raw materials

How did America annex Hawaii? American planter, Sanford Dole, overthrew the Queen with the help of U.S. Marines, Hawaii was annexed by the U.S. in 1898 to protect trade in the Pacific
How did Alaska become part of the United States? In 1867, The United States purchased Alaska from Russia because then Secretary of State William Seward saw Alaska as a stepping stone for trade with Asia and the Pacific.
