What role did taxes play in the American Revolution? They started it.
Why did Great Britain institute these taxes? Because they were in debt from the war.
Who said "Give me liberty or give me death," and what does it mean? Author- Patrick Henry Meaning- I will only settle for liberty or death.
Who said "No taxation without representation," and what does it mean? Author- James Otis Meaning- Tax me? I thought you were supposed to represent me! This isn't fair!
What is the Stamp Tax? Tax on sugar and molasses.
What is Tea Tax? Tax on tea.
What is the Townshend Act? Tax on paint, glass, lead, paper, and tea.
What is the Intolerable Act? Punish Boston for the Boston Tea Party.
What is the Boston Massacre? A snowball fight leads to British soldiers killing 5 Americans and keeps a mark on history.
What is the Battle of Lexiington? The American Revolution begins.
Who was in the midnight ride? Paul Revere, Willian Dawes, and Dr. Sam Prescott.
Who proposed independance and when? Richard Henry Lee on June 7th, 1776.
Who wrote the Dec. of Ind.? Thomas Jefferson.
When was the Dec. of Ind. approved? July 4th, 1776.
What was Thomas Hobbes' belief in humans? (g/b) bad
What was John Locke's belief in humans? (g/b) good
Natural Rights is? given to us by god and they are the basic rights everyone has.

Purpose of government is? Protect the rights of people.
Proclamation of 1763 Issued October 7th 1763. Purpose of the Proclamation was to organize Britain's North American Empire and to stabilize relations with the Native Americans. This ceased to be law after the American Revolution
Massacre kill a large number of people for not real reason and killing a unnessicary amount.
Boycott- refuse to sponsor; refuse to do business with
Smuggle- When someone steals taxed goods.
Loyalist/Tory- Someone in favor of the King of England.
Patriot/Rebel- Loyal to the colonies and freedom.
State of Nature- no government
Quartering- To house and feed a soldier even if you don't want to.
Militia- civilians trained as soldiers but not part of the regular army
Guerilla Warfare- Guerrilla warfare is the irregular warfare and combat in which a small group of combatants use mobile military tactics in the form of ambushes and raids to combat a larger and less mobile formal army.
Democracy- Rule of the people
Anarchy- No government
Monarchy- Rule of one
Aristocracy- rule of the best
Theocracy- rule of religion
