| Allies | the 26 nations that fought against the Axis in World War II. The Axis was Germany and the nations that supported Germany |
| Collaborators | a person who cooperates with an enemy nation or force, especially with an enemy occupying one’s country. |
| Annex | to incorporate (territory) into the domain of a city, country, or state. |
| Deported | to expel (an alien) from a country; banish. |
| Anti-Semitism | Prejudice or hatred against Jews |
| Ghetto | (formerly, in most European countries) a section of a city in which all Jews were required to live. |
| Auschwitz | a town in SW Poland: site of Nazi concentration camp during World War II. |
| Adolf Hitler | Leader of Germany who was responsible for World War II |
| Forced Labor | Work or service extracted from any person under the menace of a penalty and for which that person has not offered themself voluntarily. |
| Nazis | a member of the National Socialist German Workers' Party, which controlled Germany from 1933 to 1945 under Adolf Hitler |
| Immigrate | to come to a country of which one is not a native, usually for permanent residence. |
| Persecution | a program or campaign to exterminate, drive away, or subjugate people based on their membership in a religious, ethnic, social, or racial group. |
| Inferior | less important, valuable, or worthy. |
| Liberate | to free (a nation or area) from control by a foreign or oppressive government. |
| Jews/Jewish People | a person whose religion is Judaism. |
| Concentration Camps | a Nazi prison camp or death camp prior to and during World War II. |
| Genocide | the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group. |
| Rabbi | a title of respect for a Jewish scholar or teacher. |
| Policy | a course of action adopted and pursued by a government, ruler, political party, etc.. |
| Swastika | this figure as the official emblem of the Nazi party and the Third Reich. |
| Systematic | having, showing, or involving a procedure, method, or plan. |
| Holocaust | systematic mass slaughter of European Jews in Nazi concentration camps during World War II. |
| Final Solution | the Nazi program of annihilating the Jews of Europe during the Third Reich. |
