| Term | Definition |

| Settlement | A place where people establish a community, often in a new or previously uninhabited area. |
| Social Classes | Divisions in a society based on factors like wealth, education, and occupation, with some groups having more power or status than others. |
| Society | A group of people who live together in a community and may share laws, traditions, and values. |
| Standardization | The process of making things uniform or consistent, so they follow the same rules, measurements, or procedures. |
| Status | A person’s social or professional position within a society, often based on their job, wealth, or family. |
| Successor | Someone or something that came after another person or thing in a job, position, or role. |
| Supply | The amount of a good or resource that is available to use or buy. |
| Symbol | A sign, object, or image that represents something else, like a flag representing a country. |
| Taxes | Money or goods that people and businesses must pay to the government. |
| Technology | The tools, machines, and systems people create to solve problems and improve their lives. Does not have to be electronic. Examples include pencils and computers. |
| Trade | The exchange of goods, services, or money between people, businesses, or countries. |
| Tradition | A custom or belief that is passed down from generation to generation, often practiced regularly by a group of people. |
| Tribe | A group of people who share the same language, culture, and ancestry, often living together in a close-knit community. |
| Urban | Areas that are in cities or towns, where many people live and work, and where buildings and infrastructure are concentrated. |
| Values | Beliefs and principles that guide how people live and make decisions, like honesty, respect, and kindness. |
