TermDefinition
industry the process of using resources, especially machinery, to produce goods and services.
agriculture the science or practice of cultivating soil, producing crops, and raising livestock; farming.
productivity how efficiently something can be made; the rate of output.
natural resource a naturally-made item, such as a tree, mineral, or fresh water, that people can use to help meet a need or want.
supply chain the network and process involved in creating a product, including obtaining raw materials, transportation, production, and delivery.
sharecropper a farmer who lives on land owned by someone else, rents animals, equipment, and supplies to farm the land, and pays the landowner back with a large share of the harvest.
tenant farmer someone who owns there own animals, equipment, and supplies, but rents land from a landowner and pays the landowner back by giving up a share of the harvest.
rural of or relating to the countryside and the people who live there.
timber wood used in building and carpentry.
innovate to create a new or improved method, idea, or product.
entrepreneur a person who takes the risk to organize resources to produce a new or better good or service in hopes of gaining a profit.
immigrate to move to a foreign country and take up residence there.
