Government AL deck

A deck of flash cards to study for my World Cultures AL.

TermDefinition
Democracy A system of government where the people have the power to make decisions typically by voting for their leaders and on important issues.
Representative Government A system of government where citizens elect leaders to make decisions on their behalf, ensuring that the government reflects the will of the people.
Parliamentary System A system of government in which the executive branch is chosen from and held accountable by the legislative.
Legislative branch The part of the government responsible for making laws. In many countries, this is a group of elected officials such as a parliament or congress.
Unlimited Government A form of government where one person or a small group has total control over every aspect of life without any limits on their power.
Judicial Branch The part of the government that interprets the laws and ensures they are applied fairly. This includes courts and supreme court.
Limited Government A government where the power of the leaders' restricted by laws or a constitution, ensuring citizens' rights are protected.
Constitution A system of government that s based on a set of fundamental laws that outlines the rights of the citizens and the power of the government.
Executive Branch The part of a government responsible for carrying out and enforcing the laws created by the legislative branch. This branch is often led by a president or prime minister.
Separation of powers The division of government responsibilities into distinct branches to prevent any one branch from gaining too much power.
