Unit 3 American Revolution

Resolution a formal statement of opinion to be voted on
Preamble An introduction to a document
Grievance Formal complaints about being treated unfairly
Morale The overall mental or emotional state of a group
Desertion Abandoning the military without permission and without returning
Mercenary Soldiers who are paid to fight for a country other than their own
Enlist Voluntarily signing up for the military
Privateer Armed civilian ships that were armed with permission from the government to attack enemy ships and keep their goods
Traitor A person who turns against their own side in a war
Revolution An uprising that overthrows an existing government a replaces it with a new one
Patriot Colonists who were in support of independence
Loyalist Colonists who supported Great Britain and were against independence
