What is containment? List and explain the first example of containment the United States used during the Cold War. (Written Response) Containment is stopping the spread of communism. One example is the Korean War. This is when the US backed South Korea, so they didn't fall to communism. Secondly, is NATO. This was an alliance made to stop communism and war.
List the second and third examples of containment. (Written response) Secondly, is NATO. This was an alliance made to stop communism and war. Lastly, the Marshall Plan is an example. This is when the US gave money aid to other countries to stop the spread.
What is the first and second part reform did Gorbachev implement in the Soviet Union? Define each reform and explain how each reform helped lead to the collapse of the Soviet Union? Glasnost was the policy of openness. This gave the people more information, and caused people to feel more discontent. Perestroika was an economic restructuring. People were able to sell their own things, and have their own businesses.
Ending of second part and last reform that Gorbachev implemented. They then saw how restricted they were with this ability. Democratization was the opening of the political system. People were able to choose their leaders, and get a taste of democracy.
