How was ireland in the 1970s 3 points Ireland was ruled by Britian in the 1790s. Irish Catholics were persecuted by the Penal Laws, Presbyterians were banned from the parliament and Ireland wanted independence.
Who was Theobald WolfeTone? Theobald Wofletone was a Revolutionary who was responsible for the 1790 rebellion.
Wolfetones early life and belief's Wolfetone was born to Protestant Family in Dublin , 1763. He studied law in Trinity College and was inspired by the French Revolution. He criticised British control in Ireland and wrote a pro independence Pamphlet called “an argument”.
What are the two main political traditions in ireland. Nationalists- wanted independence from Britain, majority catholic and was across ireland. Unionists- maintain ties to Britain, majority Protestant and was mainly in Ulster.
The society of united irishmen early days The United irishmen were an organisation founded by Wolfetone and others. It was founded in Belfast and aimed to unite Ireland through peaceful means.
Who were the Protestant ascendancy The Protestant ascendancy was a group in Ireland that held most of the land and power despite only being 15 percent of the population
