Great Depression In 1929, the economy got very bad, and many people didn’t have enough money. (Businesses closed, people lost their homes, people lost their jobs)
unemployment people who want a job but can't find one.
stock market is a place where people buy and sell parts of companies (called stocks).
credit being able to borrow money now and pay it back later.
tariff a tax on goods from other countries.
Dust Bowl the time during the Great Depression when huge dust storms ruined farms in the middle of the United States.
Stock A tiny piece of a company. When you buy a stock you own a small part of a company.
test a trial that shows how strong someone is in a difficult situation.
expand to make something bigger or to try and increase it.
consumer a person who buys or uses goods and services.
