Why are checks and Balances important? How do they help each branch of the federal government make more thoughtful decisions? It keeps any one branch from getting to powerful. This helps prevent any branch of the federal government from misusing its authority that may harm the government or the people.

What does it mean that the United States of America is a republic? The United States has a form of government in which the people elect representatives to govern the country.

One having equal representation from each state, and one having representation based on each states population. Both houses could propose bills, but only the house based on population could propose tax bills.
