Rights and Responsibilities

TermDefinition
Citizen Rights Freedoms or benefits guaranteed and protected by law.
Citizen Responsibility A duty or obligation citizens are expected to follow.
Citizen A person who is a legal member of a country.
Rule of Law The idea that everyone must obey the law, including leaders.
Equality Treating all people fairly and with the same rights.
Freedom of Speech The right to express ideas and opinions.
Due Process Fair legal steps that must be followed before punishing someone.
Voting The act of choosing leaders or deciding issues in an election.
Civic Duty Actions citizens take to support their community and government.
Common Good What is best for the whole community.
