McCarthyism The act of accusing people of disloyalty and communism
Korean War The first major conflict of the Cold War, lasting from 1950 to 1953 in Eastern Asia
House Un-American Activities Committee A congressional committee created to search out disloyal Americans & Communists.
Second Red Scare Widespread effort to root out Communist spies after World War II that lasted for nearly a decade.
Joseph McCarthy Wisconsin Senator who led attempts to uncover Communists in American society
Berlin Blockade The blockade was a Soviet attempt to starve out the allies in Berlin in order to gain supremacy.
Duck-And-Cover Drill performed by American school children in preparation for a Soviet attack
Satellite Nations Countries dominated by the Soviet Union
Douglas MacArthur American general who commanded UN Forces in Korea before being fired by President Truman
Containment American policy of resisting further expansion of communism around the world
Potsdam Conference Allied conference of World War II. The chief participants were U.S. President Harry S. Truman, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin.
Iron Curtain The term popularized by Churchill describing the Eastern Bloc nation's division from Western Europe
