| Marshall Plan | A U.S. program of economic aid to European countries to help them rebuild after World War II |
| Sputnik | October, 1957 - The first artificial satellite sent into space, launched by the Soviets. |
| McCarthyism | The act of accusing people of disloyalty and communism |
