Bosten Massacre American colonists and British soldiers exploded into violence because the colonist were so enraged about taxes. They were throwing snowballs and rocks at the British soldiers. The soldiers retaliated and fired killing 5 American colonists. 1770
Bosten tea party The sons of liberty disguised themselves as American Indians and threw 342 crates of tea into the Boston harbor 1713
Massachusetts Government Act Also known as the (intolerable act) passed by the British parliament to punish Massachusetts after the Bosten Tea Party. This took away the colony's self-government. Increased royal control.
Bosten Port Act King Goerge closed down the Boston harbor until the British paid off the tea that went overboard. Shut down all trade in and out of Bosten Harbor.
First Cont. Congress Resolutions- Endorsed to boycott British goods Declaration of American Rights- Asserted natural rights and colonial self-government. Petition to the king- sought redress while maintaining loyalty.
Revolutionary War American colonies fought for independence from Great Britian ultimately forming the United States.
Divisions of colonists Patriots, loyalists, and neutralist.
Washington's plan Strategy of attrition, targeting British supply lines, and avoiding large set piece battles.
International involvement France, Spain, and the Dutch Republic providing funding and supplies.
British strategies Goal- divide the colonies along the Hudson River corridor and isolate New England. Outcome- Plan failed due to effective colonial militia training and aid to the Americans.
Lexington vs Concord 700 soldiers marched from Boston to seize colonial weapons. First war of the Revolutionary War
Bunker Hill The war was actually held at Breed's Hill The Battle of Bunker Hill is important because it proved the colonist could fight. Battle between British and the Colonies.
Trenton vs Princeton Washington needed a win after many defeats. His troops surprised attacked the Hessians Christmas morning because they were sleeping and hungover. Hessian force captured.
Battle of Saratoga The British plans to cut the colonies in half but the Americans fight back in freeman's farm + Bemis Heights battles after Americans both battles and win the France decided to help us with goods, soldiers, Money, and a grudge against Great Britian.
Battle of Yorktown Final battle of the Rev War. this ended with British surrender. The French, French Navy, and Washington trapped British with no escape.
