Canadian Geography

| Canada | a country in North America; north of the United States, it is flocked by the Atlantic in the east, the Pacific in the west, and the Arctic Ocean is north of the country |
| Province | a division of land or area within a country or state; Canada has 10 provinces |
| Quebec | the largest province of Canada |
| St. Lawrence River | Connects the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean; it was one of the ways European explorers arrived in North America |
| Hudson Bay | a large body of saltwater in Northeastern Canada; Named for Henry Hudson who first explored it |
| The Great Lakes | five very large lakes near the border between Canada and the United States(they are named: Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, and Superior) |
| Canadian Shield | a large section of Canada and some parts of the Northeastern united States that is covered in with large rocks |
| Rocky Mountains | A major mountain range in western North America |
| Acid Rain | rain that has become more acidic by pollution and is harmful to plants, animals, and the environment |
| Extraction | the action of taking something out; for example, mining minerals from the earth |
| mining | the act of extracting or taking out minerals and materials from the earth |
| logging | the act of cutting, processing, and removing trees from land |
