Bill of Rights
| Term | Definition |

| Anti Federalists | — People who, after the American Revolution, wanted more power for individual states and were worried a strong national government might take away people's rights. |
| Bill of Rights | — The first ten changes (amendments) added to the U.S. Constitution that list important rights and protections for people, like freedom of speech and the right to a fair trial. |
| Federalism | — A way of sharing power between a national (federal) government and state governments so both have important responsibilities. |
| Majority Rule | — The idea that when people vote, the choice with the most votes is the decision that will be followed. |
| Federalists | — People who supported the new U.S. Constitution and wanted a stronger national government to help the states work together. |
| Amendment | — An official change or addition made to a law or the Constitution to update or improve it. |
| The Federalist Papers | — A group of essays written by supporters of the Constitution that explain why a stronger national government would be a good idea; these essays helped people understand the proposed Constitution. |
