American Revolution

Sugar Act A British tax on the American colonists to help pay back the costs of the war. (taxed coffee, cloth, indigo & wine)
Stamp Act A tax created by Parliament in 1765 that taxed anything printed on paper.
Townshend Acts Passed in 1767 that taxed tea, glass, lead, paints, and paper that were imported to the colonies.
Tea Act Passed in 1773, allowed the East India Tea Company of Britain to sell tea in America at a cheap price.
Intolerable Acts Created by Lord Frederick North to punish the colonists in response to the Boston Tea Party.
Rioting a violent disturbance caused by a large number of people.
Smuggled Having been secretly or illegally moved from one place to another.
Taxation The process of imposing taxes on goods, services, or income.
Proclaim To announce publicly or make well
Protest To express objection to an action or statement.
Import item or good that is brought into a country from other places
Militia A group of regular people who are trained to act like soldiers but are not part of the regular army.
