ROME ch. 11-16

QuestionAnswer
Where is Rome located? Italy the capital of Italy
Why is it named Rome? Because Remus and Romeulus were fighting over then name of the city of Rome and Romeulus won and Remus died so that's why it's called Rome
What were Remus's and Romeulus's life story? When they were babies they were kidnapped and left in the Timber river but they didn't die and was taken in by a female wolf who raised them until they were kids then humans took them in
What happened for them to be kidnapped in the first place? There grandfather was banished from the kingdom by his evil brother when the evil brother found out about Remus and Romeulus he ordered his men to drown the babies in the river but luckily they survived and he didn't know that for over 15 years
Why did his evil brother want the kids to be drowned? When Remus and Romeulus were born that meant he wouldn't be king anymore so he banished their mother and told his guards to drown Remus and Romeulus
When was this? I don't know yet but I will soon we are still learning it!!
Are you excited about this unit? YES of course I am I'm always excited i'm just not good at doing a lot of things...........
Who are Remus and Romeulus? They are twin brothers sent to drown at birth but they survived and were raised by a mama wolf
Why did Romeulus kill Remus? When they built the city now called 'Rome" They augured on what the name should be since one built it the other thought of it in the first place They got in a huge savage fight and Romeulus killed Remus in the end.
Why did Romeulus and Remus build the city of Rome on the Tiber river? Because Tiber river was were they were found as babies by the female wolf and raised until they were almost teens.
How did Remus die? Romeulus killed him after they got it a huge savage fight about the city now called "Rome" should be named and he lost and was killed by Romeulus which is also why it's named Rome Rome-ulus
today's notes on Remus and Romeulus in Social study's? W didn't really take notes on them today but we did take notes and do Crp on Daily life of Rome and Republic of Rome
Forum? Prefix: none Suffix: none Root/base word: Forum (Latin-public place)
Rome's beliefs? They didn't really have any until they met the Greek's and stole or copied their ideas and made them their own and just changed the name of the people
Punic war? well there's two Punic war's one started because they both wanted to rule what they considered the world and Carthage's won Romen lost and in the second Punic war The Romen's lost agine and we are still learning about it and so far the Romen's winning

Vocabulary? Vocabulary is something with certain with words with certain meaning's like I'm on Rome so some Romen vocabulary is Forum and Dictatorship
how long ago was the first Punic war and how long did it last? It was 2'290 years ago (264-241 BCE) (lasted for 23 years)
how long ago was the second Punic war and how long did it last? 2'244 years ago (218 BCE-201 BCE (Lasted 16-17 years)
Who was highest in the Romen hierarchy? Senates were the top of the Hierarchy
Who was the second lowest in the Romen hierarchy? The freedmen who was originally slaves but were redeemed but still follow harsh rules
Who was the lowest in the Romen hierarchy? The slaves were the lowest in the Romen hierarchy they were sold and captured regularly and treated harshly though some slaves worked for wealthy Masters
Empire? Prefix: none Suffix: none Root/Base word: empire “command” or “rule” Synonym: kingdom, realm Land with different territories and people under a single rule
Emperor? Prefix: none Suffix: -or (one who) Root/Base word: emper (from Latin imperator = commander) Root meaning: “one who commands” Synonym: ruler, monarch
Patricians? Suffix: -ian (belonging to) Root/Base word: patrician Roots inside: pater (Latin = “father”) referring to “fathers of Rome,” the wealthy class The Nobles in Roman society
Romen Gladiators? Romen Gladiators are s different type of special for one: most Gladiators weren't free and were actually slaves and in this unit today we were watching a video about a certain Gladiator I can't remember his name though...........anyway next!
Romen Gladiators part 2 (it didn't' let me finish in the one above this) Number two: the Gladiator from our story was from Carthage and was one of the people that houses were burned down by Romen warriors children and wives ran, Men stayed behind and faught the Romen warriors and lost badly and were taken as slaves to gather
Romen Gladiators part 3 (I ran out of room again) To gather enough rocks for something the king wanted made the Gladiator and other slaves from our story don't know what it is yet but if they don't do it they'll be ended so they had no choice but to trust the emperor so they gathered rocks it was so....
Romen Gladiators part 4 (no room) so...it felt like months maybe even years before they gathered even half of the rocks and stone needed for it whatever it was it was going to be huge and all the sudden a man appeared not the emperor but the owner of a Gladiator school and he was here to.
Romen Gladiators part 5 (you know how it goes) he was here to see which slaves would become a Gladiator and fight to the death in the Colosseum and that's when the slaves realized that they've been helping make something they would probably die in (now keep in mind the Gladiator in our strory wasn't
Romen Gladiators part 6 (why am I even writing anymore) Wasn't a Gladiator yet (slight spoilers and if I remember correctly it's based off of a true story)

Romen big cats? During Gladiators time they used big cats like lions and tigers and they were mostly female since female animals are a lot more violent so it's was mostly to always female and rarely male
Gladiators? Gladiators were only men and mostly old or new slaves and women would pay to have them knowing they'll probably die but hoping they wouldn't and most women didn't care if the men died
Egypt? there's ton of things in Egypt at Egypt like the pyramids and the rulers and the way they handled dead bodies and they're beliefs like life after death and when they mush up the Brain and eat it or feed it to the animals is my favorite part!!!!!!!!!!!
Athens women? they were treated like trash and considered property and only allowed to be social to other people during funerals
Sparta women? they had they're own freedom and they were a huge part of traditions and family stuff and they can train for war with the men but only the men go into war
Athens VS: Sparta Who Won? Sparta won because they had a better army and cuz Athens liked peace more then violence
Athens lost right? Yes Athens lost but they're the ones who made the peace treaty in the first place and Sparta attacked breaking the treaty and still Won the war which I think is extremely unfair because they had a better Army and they knew that and they still broke the tr

How long ago did you start school? Well it's April now sooooooo 6 months
WHAT SIX MONTHS?!!!! Yep it's been six months hard to believe I know but we made it our grades are........uhh not good but that's ok cuz were trying REALLY hard to not fail and be held back we aren't as smart as the others but we aren't dumb either you know?

Old Ancient Asia? Ancient Asia was a different story
