Abolition An end to slavery. A person who works to make this happen is called an abolitionist
Rebellions Violent actions organized by a group of people to bring about change
Raid A sudden, unexpected attack on an enemy
Union The states that remained loyal to the U.S. Constitution (Northern States)
Confederacy Another name for the confederate states of American, a nation formed by souther states that seceded from the USA during the Civil War (Southern States)
Advantage Something that gives a person or group a better position
Blockade Use of troops or warships to prevent people or sipplies from entering or leaving an area
Neutral Not supporting any side during a conflict
Secession A withdrawal from or leaving something because of a difference
