In what ways were Rhode Island and Massachusetts Bay Colony different. 1. Rhode Island colony had religious freedom, but only Puritans could worship in Massachusetts Bay Colony. 2. Rhode Island Colony was founded after Massachusetts Bay Colony. 3. Rhode Island is farther south than Massachusetts.
How did the early slave trade affect both Africans and English colonists? 1. People from central and western Africa were captured and taken away on ships to be sold as slaves in the English colonies. 2. Africans suffered terribly and many of them died. 3. Over time, some colonists formed groups to try to end slavery.
What were some of the responsibilities of colonial children in New England? Give examples of what girls and boys were each expected to do. Girls - prepared food, made clothing, soap, candles, and brushes. Boys- worked in the fields, hunted, made tools, and raised animals. All kids had to go to school and read the bible.
How did people in the New England Colonies belong to a free-market economic system? Colonists were free to choose the goods they bought and made and the services they offered. They were free to compete in business and to set whatever prices they choose for goods and services.
