| Caribbean Sea | an arm of the Atlantic Ocean between North and South America |
| Sierra Madres | mountain range running along the eastern and western sides of Mexico |
| Panama Canal | a ship canal 40 miles long across the Isthmus of Panama built by the United States (1904-1914) |
| Andes Mountains | A large system of mountain ranges located along the Pacific coast of Central and South America |
| Amazon River | A long river in northern South America. |
| The Atacama Desert | a large desert on the western coast or edge of South America in Northern Chile |
| Amazon Rainforest | An area in South America with no dry season; an area that gets a lot of rain |
| Latin America | the regions of Central and South America where the Latin derived languages(Spanish and Portuguese) are spoken |
| Mexico | a large country just south of the US that borders to the north with Texas |
| Cuba | an island country in the northern Caribbean Sea; south of Florida |
| Brazil | the largest country in South America; Portuguese is the official language |
| Chile | a long, narrow country on the western edge of South America |
| Venezuela | a nation on the northern coast of South America |
| Columbia | a country on the northern tip of South America where it connects to North America |
| Panama | A small country on the southern tip of North America that connects it to South America; it is an isthmus which is a landform that is like a land bridge over water |
