New Mexico Territory: What area is included? Who claims parts of it? Texas and California. New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Parts of Wyoming and Colorado, and Arizona.
Santa Fe Trail: Define A trail near Independence, Missouri.
Ranchers/Rancheros: Define A rancher and a ranchero are people who own a rancho.
Missions: Define First Europeans to reach California.
California: Why do Americans want it as a state? What is the problem with it becoming a state? They wanted it as a state because they wanted it to be a territory from Mexico. Mexico rejected the offer from the United States.
U.S. vs. Mexico: Explain the three U.S. goals. What is the outcome? Their goals were to push Mexican forces out of Texas, take control of New Mexico and California, and capture the capital of Mexico, Mexico City. The United States won the war.
Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo: What did it say? What was the purpose? It gave Mexico a lot of money and resources. Rio Grande was shared with Texas.
What did the Mexican War have to do with Manifest Destiny? It's because they set missionaries and settled in California.
