What is the Powder Keg of Europe? An area of extreme tensions
Who got assasinated? Franz Ferdinand and Sophie

What was the Schlieffen Plan? Germany didn't want to fight a two front war. They fought on the west first, and then went to fight Russia
What are 6 weapons that were invented? Machine guns, grenades, prison gases, flame throwers, tanks, and planes
Describe the trenches 8-10 feet deep, dirty, diseases, and rats
What was No Man's Land? The land between the trenches
Why was Russia struggling to stay in the war? Weren't industrialized, and lacking all supplies

What is rationing? You could only buy limited amounts of things with rationing coupons

What was the goal of the Versailles Treaty? To punish Germany
What did they want Germany to do in the Versailles Treaty? Admit guilt, pay reparations, and reduce military
Why did they say the treaty was built on quicksand? The US didn't sign it which was a big missing piece
What does MAIN stand for? Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, Nationalism
What is an example of militarism? Countries start to feel intimidated so they start building up their armies
What are the two main alliances? IGA and FBR
What does IGA satnd for? Italy, Germany, Austria
What does FBR stand for? France, Britain, Russia
What does Imperialism mean? To take over other countries for resources
What is an example of imperialism Leads to rivalry and competition
What does Nationalism mean? Extreme pride in your country
What is an example of Nationalism? You will stand up for your country
