| Worcester v. Georgia | 1832 Supreme Couth decision, ignored by Andrew Jackson, which ruled that Georgia law was not valid in Cherokee Nation |
| Trail of tears | Forced marches of the Cherokee from Georgia to Indian Territory in which many Native Americans died |
| Sequoyah | a Cherokee silversmith, warrior, and scholar famous for inventing the Cherokee syllabary, a writing system |
