| Latin America | Spanish or Portuguese-speaking nations south of the U.S. |
| Roosevelt Corollary | Extension of the Monroe Doctrine, stating that the U.S. has the right to protect its economic interests in Latin America by using military force. |
| Big Stick Diplomacy | Slogan describing TR's Roosevelt Corollary. A willingness to use military force to achieve foreign policy goals. |
