Road to Revolution

TermDefinition
King George III The king of Great Britain during the American Revolutionary War, known for his strict rule and opposition to the colonies' desire for independence.
Patrick Henry An influential American public speaker and revolutionary leader known for his famous declaration, "Give me liberty, or give me death!"
Parliament The legislative body of Great Britain responsible for making laws, including those that affected the American colonies.
Quartering Act A law that required American colonists to provide housing and supplies for British soldiers stationed in the colonies.
Sons of Liberty A group of American colonists formed to oppose British policies and taxation, known for organizing protests and rebellious acts.
Repeal The act of officially revoking or canceling a law or act, often used in the context of laws imposed by British Parliament.
Sugar Act A law passed by Parliament in 1764 that imposed taxes on sugar and molasses imported into the American colonies, aimed at raising revenue.
Boycott A refusal to buy or use goods and services from a particular company or country, often used as a form of protest against unfair practices.
Stamp Act A law enacted by Parliament in 1765 that required colonists to purchase special stamped paper for legal documents, newspapers, and other publications.
Stamp Act Congress A meeting of representatives from various American colonies in 1765 to protest the Stamp Act, leading to the formation of a unified response against British taxation.
