| Depreciate | diminish in value over a period of time. |
| Depression | a dramatic and sustained downturn in economic activity, with symptoms including a sharp fall in economic growth, employment, and production. |

| Compromise | an agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions. |
