| Rebuplic | a form of government where the supreme power is held by the people and their elected representives |
| Ordinance | a local law, regulation, or order passed by a |
| Depreciate | loose value or decline in worth over time |
| Depression | a very bad decline in economic activities, high unemployment, a drop in customor spending |
| Manumission | freeing a slave |
| Proportional | a system where representation in government matches a size in population or votes |
| Compromise | an negotiated agreement between opposite parties and they make a solution they both agree on |
| Federalism | a system where 2 levels of government national AND geographical both has authority over the same people and region. |

| Executive Branch: | a government who enforces laws and manages day to day problems |
| Electoral College | used to elect the president and vice president |
