Vocabulary words based off of our history class.

TermDefinition
Bicameral A government system with two separate houses.
Republic A state where it is controlled by a nominated/ elected president.
Ordinance A law passed based on local concern
Depreciate A value in something declining or lowering overtime
Depression A decline in a country's economy
Manumission Release from slavery
Proportional A corresponding size or amount to something else
Compromise An agreement/settlement
Federalism A system of where a government remains independent
Legislative Branch Responsible for making laws
Executive Branch A government responsible for enforcing laws
Electoral College The process for electing the vice president of the U.S
Judicial Branch Responsible for interpreting the law
Check and Balances a system where power is divided among different parts of the government so no single part gets too strong
Amendment a change or addition to a law, like a new rule that makes a legislation better
