Independence Vocab

TermDefinition
Depression When the Economy slows down, and unemployment begins to rise.
Legislative Branch The Legislative Branch creates new laws and changes existing laws based on the Bill of Rights & Constitituion.
Judicial Branch Led by the Supreme Court, it decides if Executive Decisions are constitutional or not.
Executive Branch The Executive Branch consists of the President, Vice President, and Cabinet that leads the country.
Bicamarel The House of Representitives & Senate.
Republic A type of Government where citizens elect leaders to decide decisions for the nation.
Depreciate When the value of money goes down.
Ordinance A law decided by local government.
Amendment A change, addition, or edit of the constitution.
Federalism Where power is divided by branches of government.
Checks & Balances Where branches of government make sure that the other branches are staying within the constitution & bill of rights.
Electoral College The people who help assist in elections.
Compromise A agreement between the two parties.
Proportional Each Political Party has a certain proportion of seats in the legislature
Manumission Slaves became free.
