TermDefinition
Bicameral a legislative body that is divided into two separate chambers or houses
Republic a form of government in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, rather than a monarch
Ordinance Building codes: Rules and standards for the construction, maintenance, and modification of buildings. this one example
Depreciate a decrease in value over time
Depression a mental health condition, a period of economic decline, and a dip in a surface
Manumission the formal act of a slave owner freeing an enslaved person
Proportional having a constant, consistent, or relative relationship in size, amount, or degree to something else
Compromise a settlement of a dispute or a disagreement where each party makes concessions, or gives up something, to reach a mutually acceptable agreement
Federalism a system of government in which power is divided between a central, national authority and multiple regional or state governments
Legislative Branch the part of government responsible for creating and enacting laws
Executive Branch the part of a government responsible for enforcing and implementing the laws passed by the legislative branch
Electoral College The Electoral College is the system used in the United States to elect the president and vice president
