Republic A type of government in which peple elect leaders to represnt them
Democracy A system of government in which every citizen has a right to take part
Capital The building where the Congress of the United States meets
Jury A panel of ordinary citizens who make decisions in a court of law
Immigrant A person who comes to live in a new land
Government The laws theat are followed and the people tht run a country
Passport A paper or booklet that gives a person permission to travel to other countries
Culture A way of life followed by a group of people
Constitution The written plan for governing the United States
Tax Money the governement collects to pay for its services
Supreme Court The highest court of the United States
Government The laws that are followed and the people that run a country
White House The place wher the President of the United States lives and works
Citizen An offical member of a country
Bill of Rights The first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution: they state the basic rights of the U.S. citizens
