Why did the population spike between 1750 to 1770 The population increased rapidly due to high birth rates, low death rates and lots of immigration
Why did the revolution even happen The seven years war between the British and the French caused lots of debt. As a result the British had to impose controversial acts to generate revenue like the stamp act, quartering act, navigation act and sugar act leading to colonist growing anger
What happened in Boston (two things) Colonist dressed as natives threw 342 crates of tea overboard leading to revenue lost and the British closing the ports. Protesters threw stones and snowballs at British soldiers leading to them open firing, killing 5 people
Who’s George Washington (early life) George Washington was born in Virginia to a wealthy family. He fought in the seven years war in the British army. He was later elected to Virginias assembly and then married Martha Custis , a wealthy widow becoming one of the richest men in Virginia.
What happened at the first continental congress The incidents at Boston worried the other colonies leading to the colonies ending representatives in September of 1774. Congress opposed British taxes , demanded removal of soldiers and urged boycott of British goods.
What happened at the second continental congress War was inevitable now. Thomas Praine wrote a pamphlet called common sense which argued against British oppression from America. They met in 1776 and promoted George Washington to commander of chief of the continental army
What was the difference between the continental army and the British army The continental had 20k, undertrained, under equipped and partime soliders compared to the British with 80k well trained , equipped and full time soldiers but the continental army had more local knowledge
