What is Manifest Destiny? The 19th century idea that Americans were chosen by God to settle the land between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
What were the two main goals of the Lewis and Clark Expedition? To explore and map the Louisiana Territory and to find a water route to the Pacific Ocean
What were the ways Sacagewea helped Lewis and Clark on their journey? She acted as a translator with Native Americans and gave the men valuable advice.
Where did the Oregon Trail begin and end? It began in Idependence, MO and ended in Oregon.
What were some of the hardships travelers faced on the Oregon Trail? Diseases, bad weather, rough terrain, conflict with Native Americans, and accidents
What was the Indian Removal Act? It was a law pushed by President Andrew Jackson which gave him power to develop treaties with Native Americvans in order to take their land.
Who earned the most money during the Gold Rush? Merchants and business owners
Who used the Oregon Trail? Christian missionaries, pioneers, miners, farmers ranchers, business owners, and adventurers
Where did the Mormon Trail start and stop? It started in Nauvoo, Illinois and ended in Salt Lake City, Utah
Who used the Mormon Trail? Mormons escaping persecution
Where did the California Trail start and stop? It started in Independence, MO and ended in California.
Who used the California Trail? Gold seekers and people traveling to California.
