Sentence Types
| Question | Answer |

| Phrase | -A few words, lacks a noun, or a verb. DOSN'T HAVE BOTH -Running down the hall |
| clause | -has subject and verb, not necessarily a complete sentence -As he ran down the hall |
| dependent clause | -needs more information to be complete -because I like Tacos |
| independent clause | -Sentence that can stand on it's own -I love tacos |
| simple sentence | -has 1 independent clause, no dependent -The sun rose in the east |
| compound sentence | -has 2 independent clauses in one sentence -I like tacos, but he likes pizza |
| complex sentence | -1 independent, 1 dependent -Because I like tacos, I eat them every day. |
| compound-complex sentence | 2 independent, at least 1 dependent Because I eat ice cream everyday, I love ice cream, even though Im a little allergic. |
| fragment sentence | -incomplete sentence -The president who served 4 years |
| run-on sentence | -improperly joins two or more independent clauses without correct punctuation or conjunctions -I love to write papers I would write one every day if I had the time |
| comma splice sentence | forgot a conjunction between 2 ind. clauses. -I eats tacos all day, they give me heartburn. |
| declarative | stating information -School started at 7:25. |
| interrogative | -a question Do you like Tacos? |
| imperative | -an order given -Clean your room |
| exclamatory | add ! I love tacos! |
| conditional | an if then statement If you like tacos, then you probably like quesadillas. |
