TermDefinition
Assassination – The killing of an important person, usually for political reasons.
Conspiracy / Conspirator A conspiracy is a secret plan by a group to do something harmful or illegal. A conspirator is a person who helps plan or carry out that secret act.
Theater Box A small, private seating area in a theater, usually raised above the stage for better viewing.
Abraham Lincoln The 16th President of the United States who led the country during the Civil War and worked to end slavery.
Mary Todd Lincoln The wife of President Abraham Lincoln and the First Lady during his presidency.
John Wilkes Booth The actor who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln at Ford’s Theatre in 1865.
Major Henry Rathbone A U.S. Army officer who was sitting with the Lincolns at Ford’s Theatre the night Lincoln was shot. He tried to stop Booth.
Clara Harris The fiancée of Major Henry Rathbone who was also with the Lincolns at the theater the night of the assassination.
