Southern colonies depended on what? Agriculture
What did the southern colonies export? Wood and Tar
What was one main agricultural job? To work on a farm and grow cash crops which are crops that are sold. Ex. indigo, tobacco, and rice
What helped the farmers to work faster? they used slaves
What did most southern colonies do? They passed slave codes.
What did the N.E. colonies depend on? trade, fishing, hunting, shipbuilding, and skilled working.
What did they hunt for? Whales, cod, mackeral, and halibut
What did familes do? they sent younger sons to learn to become a skilled crafts person.
What did the southern colines trade? pork, furs, and beef
What did the sothern colonies work at? A blacksmith, weaving, snd printing
What did farmers grow in the middle colonies? They grew staple crops
What did slaves work as in the middle colonies? They worked as blacksmiths and carpenter
What else was important for the middle colonies? trade
What role did women play? Woman ran farms, and buisnesses
What were the cash crops in the middle colonines? wheat, barley, oats, and corn
