What did the treaty of paris state? Canada is given to Great Britain, and Great Britain get all the land to the East of the Mississippi river. France got 2 small islands, and the New Orleans, France basically was booted out of America.
What places did the colonists venture to? Virginia, the carolinas, and the ohio river valley.

What did king george issue? and what did it mean? He issued the proclomation of 1763, which banned settlers from traveling west of the appalachian mnt.
What did the English colonies have their own of? own governmental power given by a charter, own governor who served as the head of the gov't, and advisory council to the governor
What colony was the first to have their own legislature? Virginia
New England was know for what? Have their own town meetings
What did the English pass? What did it mean? They passed the English Bill of Rights. This act reduced the powers of the monarch and increased the power of the parliament

How was the trial of John Peter Zenger significant? JPZ published the NEW YORK WEEKLY which criticized NY's governor, John Cosby, Cosby arrested JPZ for libel, the courts ruled in favor of JPZ- not guilty (started freedom of speach)
What was the main reason to colonize the new world? to earn money
What did many Western Europeans practice? What is it? Mercantilism, and it is a system of maintaining wealth through controlled trade.
What did parliament pass? What did it mean? The Navigation acts, it prohibited colonists to trade with other countries other than England.
What was the effect of this law? Not all colonists supported these laws, and British officials rarely carred out these laws
What was the Great Awakening? It was a huge religious Movement in the colonines throught the colonies
Who were two of the most important leaders of Georgia? Jonathon Edwards and George Whitefield
What did the Enlightenment spread? The idea of reason and logice could improve society, and how government should work.
Whey believed that there should be a social contract between who? The government and the citizens
John Locke inspired what idea? life, liberty, and property
